The COE is situated in the heart of David Thompson Country, surrounded by
rich green forests and a spectacular mountain view. The David Thompson
Country host's pristine forests, untouched wilderness, crystal clear
lakes and rivers for those who like to take in the Great Outdoors. There
are many hiking trails in the area from a "walk in the park", to a "
walk on the wild side" which you can choose from. We are just 10.5 km
from the Hamlet of Nordegg, on Highway 11 and a short drive to the
National Parks.
The COE's home is the Shieling Mountain Lodge. It is a large wheelchair
accessible cedar bungalow which can facilitate up to 30 people in shared
accommodation. There are 5 bedrooms which can sleep 6 persons per room.
There are 2 large washrooms complete with showers and plenty of hot
water! The main hall is a combination dining room and sitting room. The
sun shines all day long in the main hall. You can just sit, relax and
take in the beautiful view of our picturesque mountains and forests. The
lodge has a full service kitchen, offering meals served family style,
which are home cooked, nutritious, and delicious. We guarantee it! We
have a small library where you can enjoy some quiet time, read one of
our many outdoor books, browse through pictures or watch a video.
Wouldn't you love to sit out on the deck, watch the sun go down
over the mountains, enjoying the peace and tranquility? How about
watching the stars on a clear night while soaking your weary
muscles in our hot tub, after a day on the mountain? For your comfort
and convenience, the Lodge offers linens and duvets if you prefer not
to bring your own. Come enjoy our warm, cozy, and friendly atmosphere.
People who come to the lodge, soon find themselves members of our family.
