Kayaking Adventure Program

This one week kayaking camp will start with basic paddling skills on the lake and advance to class 2+ whitewater on the North Saskatchewan River. No previous experience is neccessary although basic swimming skills are highly recommended. Instructors of this program are experienced paddlers with swiftwater rescue training and kayak instructor training.

Kayaking Skills Advanced

advanced kayaking course for teensOne Week, Ages 14 - 17: Previous Kayaking Experience Required
Maximum Group Size: 8

For those who have experienced the fun of kayaking and want to take it to the next level, this is the course for you! After a morning of review on the lake we will hit the river. The first two days will be spent around Nordegg and at the Brierlies. Days 3-5 will be spent on a road trip to the Red Deer or Kananaskis rivers where you will test your skills against some of the best stretches of river in the Rockies.

If you have no previous kayaking experience, please take our week long Kayaking Adventure Program first.

 

What to Bring

Gear can be purchased at a variety of outdoor stores including MEC, a co-op with some of the lowest prices in North America.

·                  Clothing (track suit for running, running shoes, sweaters, socks (lots), shorts, T-shirts and sweat pants) Avoid jeans except for indoors.

·                  Warm jacket (fleece best), Warm pants (not jeans).

·                  Rain Jacket and Pants

·                  Gloves, hat and toque

·                  Swim wear + Towel

·                  Water Shoes (mandatory)

·                  Wet Suit (limited quantities available for loan)

·                  Dry Top (optional)

·                  Toiletries, towels, facecloth

·                  Sleeping bag and pillow, good to minus 10.

·                  Day pack or back pack

·                  Sturdy pair of footwear!!

·                  Camera and pocket money (optional)

·                  Sunglasses, Sunscreen, ball cap.

·                  2 - 1L Waterbottles (Nalgene brand best)

·                  Make sure to properly label all of your gear.

Please avoid bringing valuables to camp. We will not be responsible for lost or stolen articles.

The following items are not allowed at COE summer youth programs

·                  Cell Phones

·                  Gameboys, Nintendo's, etc.

·                  Knives
