This full 7 day course
of intense instruction and adventure will leave you with a basic skill and
understanding level for all types of rock climbing. Starting with sport
climbing and anchor building, we will progress to traditional gear climbing and
multipitch climbing by the end of the week. The two multipitch days will be
done at a guiding ratio of 2:1 to allow all participants to challenge
themselves at their individual skill level. Some
previous experience and basic ropework and belaying skills are required to take
this course. For those with no previous experience or who want a refresher, the
two day Top
Roping & Anchor Building Course can be taken on the Thursday/Friday
immediately prior to this course. Day
1:We will head out to Kootenay Plains for a morning reviewing basic knots, belays, anchors,
and climbing skills. In the afternoon we will focus on sport climbing skills and get everybody
doing a bit of leading. Instructors
of these courses are expert rock climbers and ACMG guides who have vast
experience and knowledge in the mountain environment. They have many years
experience helping new climbers learn the skills needed to enjoy this great
sport.
