Trip 1: Alpine Rock TripThis trip will take place in the granite spires of the world famous bugaboos! The routes soar above the glaciers to spectacular summits. Daily ascents will be made with a guide to guest ratio of 1:2 allowing all participants to reach their full potential and climb routes at their prefered length and difficulty. Routes of all types abound. From 4th class ridges to massive bigwall climbs, the bugaboos have something for everyone. Because of the 1:2 guiding ratio, no previous alpine experience is required. However, a couple previous days of rock climbing is highly reccomended to get the most out of this trip. A good level of fitness is also required. Note that the venue may be changed to Rogers Pass, the Rockies, or elsewhere if conditions are poor in the Bugaboos. Don't worry though, COE guides know where to find the best alpine rock in many different areas. |
Trip 2: Alpine Rock and IceFor those who want to experience all types of mountain terrain, this is the perfect trip. The trip will start in the Bugaboos or Rogers Pass with 3 days of alpine rock climbing on beautifull granite or quartzite peaks. After a rest and travel day we will find ourselves at the Columbia Icefields in Jasper National Park. Here we will spend two days completing a Glacier Travel and Crevasse Rescue course. With this completed we will spend the remaining three days attempting big peaks such as Athabasca, Andromeda, and A2 in groups of 2 or more. Exact routes will depend on conditions as well as the skill and fitness level of participants. The only prerequisite for this trip is a couple of days of previous rock or ice climbing experience and a good level of fitness. The guide to guest ratio will vary from 1:2 to 1:6 depending on the daily objective. Please note the the venues may be changed depending on current weather and conditions. This allows us to make the most out of the time available. |
